About the ONA Board
Who serves on the Oakridge Neighborhood Association (ONA) Board? The ONA Board is comprised of 4 Officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer), 7 District Directors, and 4 At Large Directors (Membership, Communications, Safety and Security, and Environmental). Additional At Large Directors may be created by the Board of Directors as needed. Officers serve for a term of one operating year. Any person may be elected to serve an unlimited number of consecutive terms in any one office. District Directors serve 2-year terms falling into fiscal years ending with odd numbers (districts 1, 3, 5 and 7) or even numbers (districts 2,4 and 6).
How are Board candidates selected? At a meeting held at least three (3) months prior to the end of each operating (usually the fourth Thursday in February), the general membership shall elect a nominating committee. Their purpose will be the selection of nominees for officers and directors for the next operating year. The names of the Officer/Director nominees shall be reviewed by the current Board officers and directors and provided to the membership for review.
When are Board members elected? The election of the Board Officers and District Directors occurs at the final General Membership Meeting of the fiscal year. This meeting (also referred to as the Annual Meeting) customarily occurs in the month of May.
The At Large Directors are chosen by the President and approved by a two-thirds vote of a quorum of the Board Officers and District Directors.
