Get to Know Our Oakridge Neighborhood Police Officer, Tommy Barnes
About Officer Barnes:
He has been part of our neighborhood since 2012. He was an Army Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division and served a tour of duty in Desert Storm. He and his wife Angie, a lieutenant with Dallas County, met in Sunday School in Chicago when she was 13 years old and he was 15 years old. They are renewing their vows in the Dominican Republic this summer after 20 years. They have three grown sons and one grandson. In his free time, he likes to work out and watch Seal Team & Cop shows.
On Oakridge:
He has worked in several police departments but says Garland is the best place to work. He enjoys getting up for work every day and being part of such a supportive staff and welcoming “good guys”. He appreciates our attentive neighbors and receives lots of calls and emails for suspicious cars. He describes Oakridge as a quiet neighborhood with lowest crime in our district.
