Oakridge prides itself on a long history of active involvement of its neighbors watching out for one another. The Oakridge Neighborhood Association (ONA) through its Crime Prevention and Safety Committee, serves the ONA’s mission to improve and maintain the quality of life in Oakridge.
Here are a few of the things the ONA Crime Prevention and Safety Committee does:
- Coordinates the Oakridge Crime Watch program in conjunction with Garland Police which includes the Video Crime Watch sign-up. As of 2021, Oakridge is officially a Video Crime Watch Neighborhood.
- Distributes crime watch email and “Siren Alerts” as needed. Click here to subscribe.
- Posts Crime Watch articles with helpful tips and monthly Oakridge Crime Report with statistics
- Coordinates COP patrols by volunteer residents trained through Garland’s Citizens on Patrol program
- Supports National Night Out and ONA sponsored events.
- Promotes Garland Police Department programs like Vacation Watch, Citizens Police Academy, Residential Lock Program, and Neighborhood Parking Enforcement
