We are grateful once again for the generosity of our Oakridge community. We were able to present the signed e-card and a check for $1500 to Officer Barnes, our Neighborhood Police Officer.
Oakridge continues our 30-year history of doing things for First Responders during the holidays. Breaking last year with providing meals or food, we once again were supported by the Garland Police and Fire for helping one of their own in his fight against metastatic breast cancer.
The Caring Bridge was set-up to allow Oakridge residents to add notes of encouragement and get occasional updates.
Here is the link for his Caring Bridge site: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/tommybarnes.
When you click on the link, you will be prompted to create a Caring Bridge account or login to your existing account (if you have one). This extra step allows Caring Bridge to protect the privacy of its users.
We have also provided a link to the Garland Police Never Walk Alone Foundation established to help officers like Officer Barnes who are battling illness and struggling to keep up with the medical and travel expenses associated with the treatments. Click here to learn more and donate.
