Oakridge has a long, 28-year history of bringing food to first responders during the holiday season. This is a wonderful way for Oakridge residents to show their appreciation for the fire crews and police officers who work during a time when many families are home feasting and celebrating.
With the current health concerns surrounding the pandemic, we have taken special steps to find out exactly what the Firemen and Police Officers want and how they want us to serve it to them. In response to their requests, for Thanksgiving meals Oakridge will be providing individual boxed meals for the police department, and drinks, sides, snacks, and desserts for the fire stations (members of Oakridge Daytimers will provide the desserts).
Here are some ways you can be involved:
- Food, Drinks, or Notes/Drawings of Appreciation: Oakridge residents are invited to contribute drinks, snack foods, side dishes (rolls, salads, fruit, veggies, etc.), or create notes or drawings of appreciation (a great chance for adults and kids to get involved!). During the week of Thanksgiving we will have assigned “staging areas” (homes of ONA board members) where items can be dropped off. Contact Jackie Reynolds (469-649-5799 or jackiesr@twc.com) for information on where to take your contributions.
- Donate. All monetary donations will be applied to both Thanksgiving and Christmas meals and treats for the firemen and police officers. Mail donations to ONA, P.O. Box 450145, Garland, TX 75045.
Contact Jackie Reynolds (469-649-5799 or jackiesr@twc.com) to let her know how you would like to be involved.
